Our Kindergarten is housed in our closely connected separate building that was customed created to a learning environment. Our Kindergartens children’s love being in our ‘big school’! Our extensive indoor and outdoor play spaces provide rich opportunities for hands-on learning and exploration. No matter the weather our Kindergarten children have access to a large under covered play space including a large indoor sandpit. During our warmer times our Kindergarten children love to play in our custom-built sprinkler area or have a yarn in our yarning circle.
To help give our Kindergarten children the best possible start to school we celebrate every opportunity to grow social and team building skills. We have our own Kindy library that children treat as a real library including checking out books. We also run a Kindy Café in which children are responsible from everything from table presentations to tea serving. We love to have our parents visit and join in with our Kindy Café.
Our Kindergarten room specialises in school readiness and works closely with our nearby schools Talara College, Merdian Plains College, Currimundi State School and Our Lady of Rosary. Part of this program includes a complementary uniform t-shirt. Providing a partial uniform helps them with the transition into primary school and inspires a more team like atmosphere.
At Currimundi Campus we believe that being outside in nature holds many benefits and is why our Kindergarten children loves to takes part in weekly Bush Kindy. Bush Kindy embraces the outdoors as a classroom and uses the large park area that backs onto the Centre. The children use nature to navigate natural challenges and safe risk taking teaching social and teamwork skills. Bush Kindy allows the children to explore, play and learn hands on while using natural materials such as rocks, leaves and sticks to boost their creativity and communication while in the wonder of the outdoors. It also promotes climbing, balancing and walking on uneven surfaces to encourage physical development and allows a healthy outlet for the children’s energy. We also believe it provides the opportunities to observe and learn about insects and animals building respect and connection for our environment and those that live in it.
Currimundi Campus also embraces the moderate use of technology with the use of our interactive smart board. The children are able to interact with learning and language games such as Reading Eggs that help to develop literacy and phonics in playful ways that helps improve Math, Literacy and Science areas.
